Vanamagan is an action and adventure film by Vijay starring Jayam Ravi and Sayyesha Saigal. The film crew recently released two videos of the film, raising the audience's expectations. While the first push was made on June 17, the second last night was released. The trailers not only gave the film a boost, but also aroused curiosity among the audience.In November 2015, it was reported that A. L. Vijay would film a movie starring Jayam Ravi. The actor confirmed that the duo would be working on the project after completing the other films in mid-2016.

 It has been reported that the movie is about a man fleeing the lost kingdom of Kumari Kandam. In May 2016, Vijay confirmed that the project would begin later in the year, revealing that the film would be extensively shot on the Andaman Islands. Music composer Harris Jayaraj and cinematographer Tirru were also involved in the project.The film was then released in September 2016 and production began in Chennai. Sayyeshaa was hired to portray the main role of the women in the film and to mark her debut in Tamil films. Sanjay Bharathi and Varun also joined to work on the film, and the latter revealed that he would represent the love interest of the heroine and that Jayam Ravi would play a tribal man who is in town. The further development of the film was officially launched on February 6, 2017. The background music of the teaser was that of African tribal music and was well received.
